Directions:

1. Mix together flour, salt and enough water to make a stiff dough. Knead until smooth.

2. Create the various parts of an insect:

a. Head
b. Thorax
c. Abdomen
d. Wings

3. Assemble the insects. Use a touch of water as "glue" to hold the pieces together.

4. Sprinkle some extra flour onto the baking pan and carefully place the clay insects on it.

5. Cut 8 pieces of wire (2" each) for each insect.

a. Stick 2 into the head for antennae.
b. Stick 2 into the thorax for legs.
c. Stick 4 into the abdomen for legs.

6. Bake for 60-90 minutes at 300 or until hard. Cool on a rack until completely cool.

7. Paint the insects with the tempera paints. Have fun adding creative designs to the wings!
