DRAWING NATURE: Weather Calendar Chart

Observing the natural world and recording it with drawings will help your students to improve their observation skills. If you will be studying weather in your home school this fall, I have designed a “Weather Calendar Chart” to be used to record the daily weather for the month.

Supplies:

* Weather Calendar Chart
* Pencil
* Colored Pencils

Directions:

1. Every day, have your students observe the weather and draw symbols to represent the sky in the box for that day. There are symbols to copy on the bottom of the calendar (sunny, partly cloudy, cloudy, rainy and snowy).

2. Color in the symbols with the colored pencils.

3. Older students can add the temperature, barometric pressure and any other observations they may have.

4. At the end of the month, record how many days were sunny, rainy, etc. and the average daily temperature.
