Supplies:

  • Heavy white paper (cardstock or poster board), cut to 4" x 6"
  • Pencils with erasers
  • Markers or colored pencils
  • Black thin marker (like a Sharpie)
  • Box sealing tape (at least 2" wide)
  • Scissors
  • Picture books about various countries

Directions:

  1. Choose a country for which you will create a card.
  2. Look through a book on this country and note the flag colors.
  3. Write the name of the country in a fancy manner in the center of one of the 4" x 6" white cards. (The font you use should somehow reflect the culture a bit.)
  4. Create a decorative border using the flag colors, if desired.
  5. Add drawings of items seen in the book, such as clothes, food, land forms, buildings.
  6. Color everything in and outline neatly with a black marker.
  7. Write the name of the capital city (and other important features) on the back.
  8. "Laminate" the card by covering both sides with box sealing tape. Trim the edges of the tape.
