Animal
Pop-up Book
 |
Let's draw animals
on white paper and create "pop-up" pages in a booklet.
Add some information about each one and you have a Nature
Study project for animal lovers!
Ages 8 and up. |
Supplies:
- White paper, 9" x
12"
- Construction paper,
any color desired
- Pencil with eraser
- Glue stick
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Markers
- Stapler
- Animal photos for
references
Instructions:
1. Cut a piece of the
white paper into four pieces, 4" x 5" each. Trim off the
two top corners, as shown below.
2. Cut a piece of construction
paper into 2 rectangles, 4.5" x 6" each.
3. Following the directions
on the "how to draw a horse" page, draw and color in a
horse on one of the pieces of white paper.
4. Using the same method
as the horse drawing, draw and color in other animals on
the other white sheets.
5. Stack the construction
paper pieces together and fold over to make a booklet.
Staple along the center.
6. Fold each of the
animal drawings in the following way: (Fold the paper forward
at the cross lines.)
7. Now fold it back along the red lines.

8. Open up the construction
paper booklet to the first page and glue the bottom flap of the
horse picture across the 2-page spread. Turn the page and repeat
with the other pictures.
9. Create a title for
the book and draw it on the cover with markers.
10. You may want to
label the animal pages and add some facts about each one.
