Cool Shoe!

Using household items like combs, sandpaper and fabric, let's render this shoe with style and lots of texture!

This project is great for all ages, especially early elementary age.

 

This project can be used with the following Masterpiece Art Instruction Kits:

Multimedia Kit
Multimedia Junior Kit
Watercolor Pencil and Ink Kit

Supplies:

  • White bond paper
  • #2 Pencil with eraser
  • Colored pencils
  • Shoe printable (For younger students. Older students should draw their own shoe.)
  • Household items with texture such as:
    • sandpaper
    • comb
    • fabric with heavy texture, such as burlap or corduroy
    • duplo blocks
    • fly swatter
    • pennies or dimes

Directions:

1. Follow these directions according to age/ability:

Young students: Print off a copy of the shoe on white bond paper.

Older students: Draw an old sneaker or boot on white bond paper with a #2 pencil.

2. Color in each section of the shoe with a different color and texture. Place the textured item (comb, sandpaper, etc.) under the paper and rub over it with a colored pencil, held on its side.

3. Outline the whole shoe with a black colored pencil.
