Small canvas or piece of illustration board, about 4" x
6" *
#4 brush
Acrylic paints: blue, white and green
White glue
Silver glitter
Old toothbrush
Newspaper
Red marker
* You may use watercolor paper if you tape it down first.
Directions:
TIP: Use a blow dryer between steps to speed up drying time.
1. Lay out some newspaper on a table before starting,
to protect the table.
2. Paint the entire surface of the canvas, board or watercolor
paper with blue paint. It need not be solidly colored.
This will give
an
antique
effect.
Allow
to dry completely.
3. Paint a white hill as shown. (The blue background will
show through a little. That's okay!) Allow to dry.
4. Paint in three pine trees as shown. Use quick brushstrokes
that start in the center and flare outward. Allow to dry.
5. Add dabs of white onto the branches of the pine trees
to indicate snow. Allow to dry.
6. Thin some of the white paint with a little water.
Dip the toothbrush into it and spatter the paint all over
the picture by dragging your thumbnail across the bristles.
(You should practice this step first on a piece of scrap
paper!)
7. "Draw" a large star in the top right corner with the
white glue. Add a few dots of glue over the sky.
8. Sprinkle the glued areas with silver glitter and shake
off the excess.
9. Write a holiday greeting on the bottom with a red marker.
