Thanksgiving Leaf Prints

Looking for a quick way to decorate your Thanksgiving table? Have the kids create some place cards with a simple leaf print on it!

If you still have a few leaves on your trees, this is for you!

Supplies:

  • Fresh leaves
  • Tempera paints: orange, red, yellow and green
  • Paint brush
  • Nice stationery paper: buff or beige colored
  • Brown contruction paper
  • White colored pencil
  • Paper towels
  • Can of water
  • Waxed paper, aluminum foil or foam plates
  • Spoon

1. Lay a leaf on a piece of waxed paper, aluminum foil or a foam plate.

2. Brush it lightly with various fall colored tempera paints like red, orange, yellow and a touch of green. Do not put on too much paint!

3. Wipe your hands clean, then carefully turn the leaf over onto a piece of beige stationery paper and press all over with the back of a spoon.

4. Carefully lift the leaf off and allow to dry completely.

5. Trim to size and glue onto a folded card made of brown contruction paper.

6. Write your guest's name or "Happy Thanksgiving" under it using the white pencil.

Try it with several kinds of leaves:
